|Οι προχωρημένες προχωράνε προς τα πίσω.|
The advanced ones move backwards.
This is an interesting truth perhaps in all arts.
Evolution is synonymous with deepening, not with accumulation of “material” and subjects.
But in the end of the day, how much does your personal development and evaluation depend on others and how much on you?
What are your expectations?
Are you a victim of the tango-lifestyle and do you think that a good follower has specific set of specifications or external characteristics?
Do you compare yourself to others?
Are you wondering why you should progress and level up if there are not good enough male dancers who meet your requirements and high standards?
Do you think that because you are advanced your knowledge has been consolidated?
Do you believe that because you covered a kilometer distance of figures and steps, they have cement into your system permanently?
Every day starts from the beginning and the body responds differently.
A series of "boring" repetitions help it to be in the same place and maybe go a little further. But sometimes - and there are quite a few - it goes back. It is tired, and behaves as if it has forgotten, it is heavy, it hurts. The daily exercises do not only help the body but also keep the mind and thinking awake. When we dance it is important to observe our body. Let us move it, let us want to dance, let us not wait to "feel" the guidance.
Our own perception of level is a trap by itself. Do not get trapped behind your "advanced" label. Do yourself a favor and learn something new every day.
Allow yourself to make mistakes on the same things, or to respond differently, or even to "forget".
